BOOK 1: BEYOND THE ICE WALL - PROLOGUE: “Before the World Was Forgotten” (by Clive J. Welan)

PROLOGUE: “Before the World Was Forgotten”

In the beginning…

There was no sky.
No sea.
No land upon which to stand.

There were no stars burning in the heavens—only an endless darkness. The darkness did not move.  It made no sound.  Time itself did not yet exist. And yet, within that infinite void…  there was One Will. A presence created by no one.  A presence that had no beginning. It was known by a single name.

EL

And within His boundless existence, EL was never truly alone. For within His divinity were three who were one.

The Source.
The Word.
The Breath.

They spoke before time itself was born. And the Word said,

“Let there be light.”

At once, the darkness shattered. The first light ignited like a dawn tearing through the void. Time began to move.  Space began to unfold. And the universe was born. Stars flared into existence like oceans of fire in the newborn sky.  Galaxies turned slowly in an immeasurable cosmic dance. Yet among all creation, EL formed something special.

A world.

A vast and living earth. Mountains rose from the ancient seas.  Rivers carved their way through green valleys.  The first winds swept across lands that no foot had ever touched. And above the world, EL stretched out the Firmament. The sky stood like a great dome protecting the earth.

The stars were placed upon it.  The sun was given its charge to rule the day.  The moon was appointed to guard the night. Everything moved in perfect order. For this world had not been created by accident.  It had been created with purpose.

Yet the earth was not left open without boundary. Somewhere—far beyond any place  mankind would ever reach—EL built a colossal wall. A wall rising higher than mountains. A wall made of ice that would never melt. Across ancient civilizations it was known by many names. But one name endured through the ages.

The White Rim.

A wall said to enclose the world. Not as a prison, but as a shield. A shield against something that once tried to destroy creation. For not every being that had been created remained faithful. Some who had been given great power began to look upon creation with pride. They desired a throne that was never meant to be theirs. And pride gave birth to rebellion. The first war in the history of the universe began. The heavens trembled with light and fire. Many of those beings fell. They were no longer called guardians of creation. They became known as the Varkul.

Creatures of shadow. Beings that existed only to corrupt what EL had made. Some were imprisoned. Others vanished into the darkness. And from that day forward… the world was never truly safe. Centuries passed. Human civilization was born. Kingdoms rose—and kingdoms fell. But as time moved on, humanity began to forget the origin of their world. Ancient legends were dismissed as myths. Old records were destroyed… or hidden. And slowly… the truth was buried.

The modern world rose from the ashes of forgotten history. Humans built cities that touched the sky. They conquered the air with machines. They crossed the oceans with ships of iron. And they studied the stars through enormous telescopes. They believed they understood everything. That their world was merely a small planet drifting through empty space. That no mysteries remained to be discovered. But far in the south… beyond the endless storms of snow… the great wall of ice still stands.

Silent.

Unshaken.

Older than every human kingdom. Older than every map ever drawn. And beyond that wall… lies something the world has never been told. Something guarded with relentless secrecy for thousands of years. A secret so immense that entire civilizations were built to hide it. But secrets, no matter how deeply they are buried, can never remain hidden forever.

For one day… someone will be born stubborn enough to ask questions. Someone who will not be satisfied with the answers the world gives. Someone who will look at a map of the earth and say,

“Something isn’t right.”

His name is Eljireh Root. And without realizing it… his life will reopen a history long forgotten. A history of a world far greater than humanity has ever been taught. A history of a war never written in any book. And a history of the Creator who still watches over His creation. For beyond the calm sky…  beyond the silent oceans…  and beyond the wall of ice that surrounds the world… the real story has only just begun.
